The top negotiators from China and the United States have traded harsh alerts over the flashpoint issue of Taiwan, in front of Monday’s fervently anticipated culmination between their chiefs.
Blinken raised worries over Beijing’s “military, political, and monetary tension” on Taiwan, in a call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday.

Taiwan pressures
Washington changed strategic acknowledgment from Taipei to Beijing in 1979, yet a demonstration of Congress that year requires the United States to give weapons to Taiwan for self-preservation.
